The Austrian artist Herbert Bayer (1900-1985) was a student and teacher at the Bauhaus, where he helped to establish sans-serif typography. He's been criticized for working with the Nazi party during the 1930s and only emigated to the U.S. in 1938. After the war, he became a renowned graphic designer in America. He moved to Aspen, Colorado, where he was involved with the Apsen Institute and did work for Walter Paepcke's Container Corporation. This show focused on his photography, including his "surrealist" images of the 1930s.
