A Report on the Art and Technology Program of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 1967-1971
Los Angeles Los Angeles County Museum of Art 1971 0875870449 / 9780875870441 First Edition Soft Cover Very Good Exhibition Catalogue
387 pp., illus. 28 cm. Published also under title: Art & Technology. Near fine. Firm binding, clean inside copy. Light edgewear to wraps. OVERSIZE! No priority/air, except by special arrangement. A provocative experiment involving artists using advanced technologies, this project was extremely controversial at the time (of the Vietnam War) because its participants were accused of collaborating with corporations and the military-industrial complex (General Electric, Lockheed, and the RAND Corporation were among the sponsors). Women artists also protested because they were completely excluded from the project. Participating artists included: Stephen Antonakos, Avighor Arikha, Michael Asher, Michael Baldessari, Iain Baxter, Larry Bell, Max Bill, Ronald Bladen, George Brecht, James Lee Byars, Anthony Caro, John Chamberlain, Christo, Ron Davis, Walter de Maria, Mark di Suvero, Jean Dubuffet, Jean Dupuy, Oyvind Fahlstrom, Dan Flavin, Sam Francis, Hans Haacke, Newton Harrison, Robert Irwin, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, R. B. Kitaj, Les Levine, Roy Lichtenstein, Len Lye, Jackson MacLow, John McCracken, Robert Morris, Bruce Nauman, Claes Oldenburg, Jules Olitski, Edouardo Paolozzi, Otto Piene, Pulsa, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, James Seawright, Richard Serra, Tony Smith, Robert Smithson, Takis, James Turrell, Victor Vasarely, Andy Warhol, Robert Watts, Robert Whitman, others. An important publication on the post-war avant-garde.
